Domain Statuses
Domain statuses indicate the domain’s current state in the domain registration process. WHMCS’s automation uses the domain status to determine when to generate invoices and perform other tasks.
You can view domain statuses in the Domains tab in the client profile or in the list at Clients > Domain Registrations.
- The domain sync task ensures that domain information is up-to-date for all Pending Transfer, Pending Registration, and Active status domains that use a valid registrar module. For more information, see Domain Sync Task.
- WHMCS also displays icons that indicate the SSL status for some domains. For more information, see SSL Monitoring.
Statuses
Domains can have the following statuses:
Pending
A client placed an order for the domain and it is awaiting provisioning.
Pending Registration
The system has initiated the registration process at the domain registrar and it is in progress.
When the domain sync task receives confirmation that registration succeeded from the domain registrar, this status will change to Active.
Active
The domain is registered with your domain registrar and is available for management.
Grace Period (Expired)
The domain is expired but is within the renewal grace period.
Redemption Period (Expired)
The domain is expired but is within the redemption period.
Expired
The domain is expired.
Pending Transfer
The system has initiated the transfer process at the domain registrar and it is in progress.
Transferred Away
The domain transferred to another domain registrar or domain registration provider.
Fraud
WHMCS determined that the order was fraudulent.
Cancelled
The domain registration is cancelled. You can change domains to this status if they are not associated with a domain registrar module and you do not want to continue generating invoices.
