Certificate Not Detected Errors

Problem

You see the following error message:

Website SSL

A Certificate Authority verified SSL certificate was not detected on https://www.example.com. This will prevent some features, such as OpenID Connect, from functioning. This may also affect your ability to receive PCI or other accreditation.

Cause

This error message indicates that an SSL certificate is not configured correctly.

Solution

Install the intermediate CA at the same time as the SSL certificate.

Intermediary certificates enhance the security of SSL certificates. When installing a certificate, it is essential to install the Intermediate CA at the same time. This ensures that the SSL certificate is fully trusted and prevents SSL errors from appearing when users visit the website.

To download an intermediate CA, go to DigiCert’s website and choose the CA bundles for your certificate type:

  • For RapidSSL-branded certificates, use the RapidSSL G5 CA bundles.
  • For GeoTrust®-branded certificates, use the GeoTrust G5 CA bundles.
  • For Digicert® Secure Site-branded certificates, use the DigiCert G5 CA bundles.
For more information, see DigiCert’s documentation.
